Yale Day of Service in Greenwich

A global Yale Day of Service was initiated in 2009 by the Association of Yale Alumni (AYA) to facilitate Yalies around the world coming together on or around a given day each year to serve their local communities. YAAG hosted a site in 2008 for the Connecticut pilot year and has sponsored multiple locations in each year of the program. We hope you’ll participate this year by joining one or both of the two YAAG sponsored programs listed below.

Both of these programs ask for much needed goods to be donated. For your convenience, you can purchase these requested items on our Amazon registry. Purchased items will be sent to Elizabeth Dempsey, one of our Co-Chairs of Community Service, who will then deliver them to the appropriate collection area.  The link to the registry can be found at https://www.amazon.com/baby-reg/2Y5YPJOIL2ZD6.

We will be collecting items for these two programs from now until the Yale Day of Service, which will be on Saturday, May 12th.

Toiletry Drive to Assist the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG)

We will be assisting the BGCG to collect, sort, and prepare for delivery travel size toiletry items for their Midnight Run to NYC. Please donate travel size items from the following list:

Soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, razor, shaving cream, deodorant, washcloths, men’s socks, and gently used backpacks.

High school students from BGCG will deliver these items to homeless clients in NYC. Our Yale Day of Service volunteers will help sort and pack on Saturday, May 12th from 9:30-11:30AM.

Please email Deelia Wadsworth (dwadsworth@bgcg.org) to register for this packing event. Donation collection bins will be located at the BGCG front desk (4 Horseneck Lane), April 27-May 11.

Any questions, please email Carol Nicholson (carolnich@optonline.net).
