For the second installment of YAAG's new speaker series in collaboration with the Library we bring you a panel of experts from Yale Cancer Center / Yale New Haven Health to discuss their work and recent discoveries in the field of cancer research. Yale Cancer Center / Smilow Cancer Hospital is regarded as one of the nation's leading centers for cancer research.  The panelists are listed below.

Immediately following the presentation, which includes a question-and-answer session, there will be a reception with refreshments.  The panel and reception are presented at no charge courtesy of the Greenwich Library Board of Trustees and the dues-paying members of YAAG.  RSVP's are encouraged.  

Those who sign up through YAAG will have reserved seats in the first few rows of the auditorium.

Dr. Herbst is nationally recognized for his leadership and expertise in lung cancer treatment and research.  He is best known for his work in developmental therapeutics and the personalized therapy of non-small cell lung cancer, in particular the process of linking genetic abnormalities of cancer cells to novel therapies.

At Yale School of Medicine Dr. Petrylak is a pioneer in the research and development of new drugs and treatments to fight prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancer.  For patients fighting these types of cancers, Petrylak finds recent developments in the field of immunotherapy particularly promising.  At the Smilow Cancer Hospital, Dr. Petrylak's position as a national leader on clinical trials for men with prostate and bladder cancer has opened up a world of treatment options for patients in New England.
