2015 Yale Day of Service in Greenwich
Seventh Annual YDOS at Seton Boy Scout Reservation and Kids in Crisis Family Centers

The Yale Day of Service (YDOS), a program of the Association of Yale Alumni, provides an opportunity for Yale Alumni to donate time and talent in service to their commmunitites.  Now in its seventh year, over 280 Yale clubs in 40 states and 18 countries participate in the YDOS.  This year YAAG is sponsoring two sites: Seton Boy Scout Reservation (needs more volunteers!) and Kids in Crisis Family Centers (filled but please contact site coordinator below in case of cancellations).  Please see the descriptions below.  We invite you to join your fellow YAAG members to volunteer.  Family members are welcome!

Ernest Thompson Seton Boy Scout Reservation - 9am until 1pm

Please join us rain or shine at the Seton Boy Scout Reservation.  We will be helping the reservation with outdoor activities which include maintaining a YAAG sponsored pathway, redesigning the Boy Scout Activity Field, and trail / general camp site maintenance.  Once the Day of Service is concluded volunteers can enjoy a cookout hosted by the Boy Scouts around noon.  All Day of Service volunteers from YAAG hosted events are welcome to attend the cookout.  Plenty of parking for all volunteers.  Bring your children and grandchildren of all ages!

Kids in Crisis is Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises, including domestic violence, mental health and family problems, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more. Over 100,000 families and children have been helped by Kids in Crisis through crisis counseling services, temporary shelter, and prevention programs provided throughout the area.

Naturally, these are kids starved for attention and in need of life skills. YDOS volunteers will cook a Chinese food lunch with the resident children and their supervisors. Kids range in age from about five to teenager.  Due to the nature of this hands-on cooking experience, we must limit the group to the first six that sign up.
